Figment.com
Dec. 8th, 2010 09:08 amIt's so cute when old media report on an "experimental" website that does the exact same thing as websites that have been in existence for over a decade. Apparently Figment.com will provide " a free platform for young people to read and write fiction, both on their computers and on their cellphones. Users are invited to write novels, short stories and poems, collaborate with other writers and give and receive feedback on the work posted on the site." Funny, I thought we already had about ten of those, even without going into the ones that don't take original fiction.
I'll admit, I'll probably check out Figment when it opens, if for no other reason than Fictionpress, like The Pit Of Voles, has some functionality issues that I hope could be corrected in a scratch-built design, but I do wish that when the New York Times reports on a "new" kind of website, that they made sure it's actually, you know, new.
